Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR - The Unexpected II - French Single Cask - November 2011 - Bottled 2022 - Aged 10 years - 50%
The independent bottler Michel Couvreur, renowned for his unique expertise in artisanal whisky, was originally a wine producer and merchant in Burgundy. Passionate about authentic flavors, he turned to the world of whisky in 1978, producing his first distillation at Edradour in 1986. Initially wishing to acquire a distillery in Scotland, Michel Couvreur ultimately settled in Bouze-Lès-Beaune, ideally located between Scotland and Andalusia, to focus on whisky maturation. His know-how centers on aging in noble casks, mainly Sherry and Port, bringing complexity and aromatic richness. This artisanal approach, combining rigor and innovation, has been continued since his death in 2013 by his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra, true guarantors of Michel Couvreur's quality and tradition.
The Unexpected No.2 is an exceptional whisky, made exclusively from Vanessa barley variety, carefully selected for its superior taste qualities. Distilled on November 15, 2011, in a traditional French still, this single cask benefited from an extended maturation of over 10 years in Cream Sherry casks in Burgundy, a rare method that imparts intense fruity notes and remarkable depth to this whisky. Bottled on February 9, 2022, at 50% vol., this vintage is limited to only 3,000 bottles, ensuring exclusivity sought after by enthusiasts and collectors.
