HIGHLAND PARK - 25 years old - Bottled in 2019 - 46% ABV
Highland Park is the northernmost Single Malt distillery in Scotland, located in Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands archipelago (Orkney Islands). This unique location makes it geographically closer to Norway than to London, giving its whiskies a remarkable identity and character. Founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a butcher and church officer by day, but also a smuggler by night, the distillery has a rich and fascinating history. Ironically, it later passed into the hands of the officer who had arrested Eunson for smuggling. Highland Park stands out among Scottish distilleries by growing and malting its own barley, thus ensuring exceptional quality and traceability. Its facilities include two "wash stills" (stills dedicated to the first distillation) and two "spirit stills" (used for the second distillation), capable of producing up to 2.5 million liters per year. Owned by the prestigious Edrington Group, Highland Park is also an essential ingredient in the famous Famous Grouse blend.
Highland Park 25 years "Spring 2019 Release" was crafted from a rigorous selection of about twenty casks carefully chosen by Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion. This exceptional aging combines European oak casks that previously held Sherry, first-fill Bourbon casks, and refill casks, offering a rich and deep aromatic complexity. All these casks were put to mature before 1994, guaranteeing a perfect balance between tradition and rarity.
Peated whisky, with subtly smoky and balanced notes, typical of Highland Park's unique identity.
