VELIER - Isautier - Rum from Réunion - Single Cask 16 years - Vintage 2004 - Molasses - 65%
Isautier is the iconic and oldest distillery still operating on Réunion Island. Founded in 1845 in Saint-Pierre, it preserves a unique know-how in producing exceptional traditional rums made from the best local sugarcane molasses.
Velier, a prestigious house founded in 1947 in Genoa, Italy, has positioned itself as a leader in the import and selection of rare and exceptional spirits. Since 1953, thanks to its founders Casimiro Chaix and Arturo Lupi, Velier has distributed wines, champagnes, grappa as well as exceptional teas and cocoa. In 1983, Gian Luca Gargano joined the company and redirected Velier, which became a pioneer from 1988 in importing New World wines into Italy. From 1992, Velier selected the most prestigious casks of rums and single malts for its own collection, officially developed from 1995. The collaboration with the Damoiseau house began in 2001, expanding their exceptional range. In 2015, the innovative project Habitation Velier was launched, the result of a close alliance between Luca Gargano and the world's best distillers, offering Pure Single rums with unique profiles, a world first for each partner distillery.
This exclusive edition marks the very first collaboration between Isautier and Velier. It consists of two exceptional traditional rums, distilled in 2004 and patiently aged in a unique single cask, the last barrel of lot 38, recognized as the oldest aged rum in Isautier's cellar. This rare cuvée comprises only 546 bottles, with a powerful aromatic richness, bottled at 65%, revealing all the richness of Réunion molasses.
