WEMYSS - Patchouli & Sandalwood Oil - Glenrothes 31 years old - Vintage 1988 - Single Cask - 46%
Wemyss Malts (pronounced "Weyms' Malts") is a renowned independent bottler from Scotland, recognized for its expertise in selecting and bottling rare and authentic whiskies. Founded in 2005 by siblings William and Isabella Wemyss, this house draws its roots from a family history deeply linked to the Scottish whisky tradition. Indeed, the Wemyss family played a major role in this heritage, notably with the first distillery established by Haig on their lands in the Kingdom of Fife as early as 1840. For decades, these lands have been renowned for the cultivation of exceptional barley, offering maltsters raw materials of unparalleled quality, essential for producing exceptional whiskies.
Inspired by his experience with master wine blenders in southern France, William Wemyss has cultivated an innovative approach to create Scottish whiskies with a distinctive and bold profile. Meanwhile, Isabella Wemyss brings her exacting standards and olfactory finesse to select rigorously chosen Single Malts from Scotland as well as the best casks from around the world. Drawing on the expertise of their experienced Master Blenders, they transform these precious ingredients into original creations, rich in flavor and complexity.
The Single Cask collection from Wemyss Malts was conceived to ensure that each selected cask reflects the most authentic and representative characteristics of its region of origin. The name given to each whisky faithfully reflects the unique aromas and deep flavors revealed in each bottle, offering enthusiasts a novel and exciting tasting experience.
