The Old Rums of Marie Galante - Bielle - Cask Strength 2005 - 10 years old - Bottled in 2015 - 57.1% ABV
The Bielle distillery, iconic and located on the paradisiacal island of Marie-Galante in the French West Indies, embodies the authenticity and ancestral know-how of exceptional agricultural rum. Founded in 1769 by Jean-Pierre Bielle, initially a coffee grower, the estate evolved in 1826 into a refinery-sugar factory spanning 53 hectares, before fully dedicating itself to rum production at the beginning of the 20th century. After a period of abandonment following World War II, the distillery was taken over in 1955 by Paul Rameaux, who revitalized the activity. In 1975, the SEDB (Société d’Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle) took the reins, optimizing the quality and reputation of its rums. Today, the Bielle distillery is considered one of the most prestigious in the Antilles. Its raw material comes exclusively from small local producers, ensuring traceability and superior quality of the sugarcane. The cane juice is meticulously extracted using two traditional mills before being fermented for 48 hours, then precisely distilled in three stainless steel Savalle columns, guaranteeing a unique and powerful character to each vintage.
This remarkable edition of the Old Rums of Marie-Galante presents a 10-year-old blend, distilled in June 2005 and carefully racked off in 2015. This cask strength at 57.1% offers exceptional aromatic intensity, revealing complex notes blending spices, precious woods, and ripe fruits. A true gem for lovers of exceptional rums and connoisseurs seeking an authentic and immersive tasting experience.
