Tatanka is an iconic artisanal company from Martinique, renowned for its unique hand-painted artworks created on various surfaces. Since 1996, a passionate Martinican artist has been painting directly on glass, in an authentic naive art style, bottles illustrating everyday life scenes of the distillery. This collection is a true artistic tribute to the meticulous work of the men and women involved in crafting the exceptional rums of Maison Neisson. For each special edition, three distinct original illustrations are offered, further enhancing the uniqueness of each bottle.
The Neisson Distillery is located in the heart of Le Carbet, in Martinique, on land rich in agricultural and spirituous traditions. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, it perpetuates an ancestral know-how. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his life to perfecting distillation techniques to offer agricultural rums of great purity. Today, the family legacy is carried on by Claudine, then her son Grégory, who passionately preserve this tradition. Since 2013, Neisson distillery has committed to a transition towards certified organic farming, culminating in 2016 with the release of the first organic AOC Martinique rum, acclaimed by connoisseurs. More than 40 hectares are now cultivated with full respect for nature and in harmony with the local ecosystem.
Neisson's sustainable commitment is also reflected in the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts carefully selected from those naturally present on sugarcane, ensuring authentic and high-quality fermentation. The thoughtful choice of crop varieties adapted to each plot, optimal irrigation management to preserve water resources, as well as ecological treatment of effluents, strengthen the production of premium agricultural rums exemplary in environmental responsibility.
This special edition of the 2011 vintage, bottled for La Maison du Whisky, bears the evocative name "Le Carbet", symbolizing attachment to the Martinican terroir and the deep authenticity of the product.
