Tatanka is an iconic artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in the creation of hand-painted artworks on various surfaces, particularly renowned for its works on rum bottles. Since 1996, a Martinican artist has been painting directly on glass in a naive art style, bringing to life unique bottles that depict authentic scenes of life at the distillery. This artistic approach pays a vibrant tribute to the passionate work of the men and women involved in crafting Neisson rums. For each special edition of the Tatanka Collection, three distinct illustrations are offered, making each bottle an exceptional collector's piece.
The Neisson Distillery, a jewel of Martinique's heritage, is ideally located in Carbet, in the heart of Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, it has preserved a unique know-how thanks to Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer who dedicated his life to perfecting traditional distillation techniques. Today, the distillery is proudly managed by his descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, who continue this quest for excellence. Since 2013, Neisson has embarked on an exemplary transition to organic farming. In 2016, it launched the first organic AOC Martinique rum, a true reference among discerning enthusiasts. Gradually, over 40 hectares of farmland have been converted to this sustainable approach, ensuring deep roots in environmental respect.
Strongly committed to an eco-responsible approach, Neisson uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, carefully selected from those naturally present on the distillery's sugar canes. The reasoned cultivation of cane varieties is precisely adapted to the typology of each plot, ensuring optimal harvest quality. Rigorous control of irrigation promotes significant water savings, while efficient effluent treatment guarantees perfect harmony with the local ecosystem. These combined efforts now allow Neisson to produce exceptional agricultural rums, combining authenticity, aromatic richness, and respect for nature.
This white rum vintage 2019 is named "La Coupeuse", a traditional reference paying tribute to the sugar cane cutters, symbols of work and Martinican heritage.
