Tatanka is an exceptional artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in the creation of hand-painted artworks on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been creating directly on glass works in a unique naive art style, depicting authentic life scenes related to the Neisson distillery. These bottles pay true tribute to the meticulous work of the men and women involved in crafting Neisson's exceptional rums. Each special edition offers three different illustrations, thus highlighting the cultural and artisanal richness of the brand.
The Neisson Distillery, a symbol of Martinican know-how, is located in the heart of Carbet, Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, it is based on a family heritage deeply rooted in passion and technical mastery. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his life to improving distillation methods. His descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this tradition today with modernity and respect. The sustainable commitment is notably reflected in a transition to organic farming initiated in 2013, with the first release of an organic AOC Martinique rum in 2016. Now, all cultivated lands, covering more than 40 hectares, are managed according to organic farming principles.
Thanks to years of in-depth research, Neisson exclusively uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, rigorously selected from those naturally present on the sugarcane of its plots. This responsible approach also includes a reasoned choice of crop varieties adapted to the specific typology of each plot, controlled irrigation management to optimize water consumption, as well as efficient treatment of organic effluents. This exemplary ecological approach contributes to the production of exceptional agricultural rums, produced in perfect harmony with the preserved ecosystem of the Neisson lands.
