PLANTATION - Saint Lucia 2010 - Single Cask - Bottled in 2021 - 53.2%
The exceptional story of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovers the renowned Maison Ferrand located in Cognac. Driven by a passion for exceptional spirits, he assembles a dedicated team and travels the world to build a distribution network sharing the same values of excellence and the same artisanal vision as Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, his journey takes him to the Caribbean islands, with the innovative idea of reselling some of his used Cognac barrels to local producers, notably of agricole and traditional rum. In search of the best terroir rums, he creates the prestigious Plantation range, now recognized for its high-quality rums from the most renowned terroirs.
Today, Maison Ferrand focuses its expertise on three major pillars: Ferrand Cognac from Grande Champagne, the French Citadelle Gin, and the exceptional Plantation rums. Plantation also owns the West Indies Rum Distillery located in Barbados and is a key shareholder of the National Rum of Jamaica, which includes the Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries, thus ensuring expertise and full control over production processes.
This Plantation rum was distilled in 2010 at the prestigious Saint Lucia Distillers distillery on the paradisiacal island of Saint Lucia, where it aged for 10 years in carefully selected Bourbon barrels. It then underwent an exceptional additional 3-year maturation in Amber casks at Maison Ferrand, giving it a unique aromatic complexity. This rum has an alcohol strength of 451 g/hLPA, attesting to an intense aromatic richness and great purity.
