The Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum produced by the renowned Carrère distillery located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe, a region emblematic of high-end rum production. This distillery, commonly called Montebello distillery, has taken its name since 1975 from the district where it is located. Founded in 1930 by the Dolomie family, it continues a family tradition rooted in ancestral know-how. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have passionately ensured the continuity and innovation of this historic house.
Committed to environmental respect, the Montebello distillery adopted an eco-responsible approach as early as 2012 by valorizing all the waste from sugarcane crushing. In particular, it uses dry bagasse – the fibrous residue of the cane – as an energy source to supply steam to the crushing presses, thus reducing its carbon footprint.
To guarantee optimal quality, the distillery exclusively selects hand-harvested sugarcanes from the unique volcanic terroirs of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. This traditional method, combined with a rare process in the Caribbean still using steam machines, gives Montebello rum an authentic, complex, and refined character.
Équilibre is a very limited edition of only 623 numbered bottles. This exceptional rum was barreled on February 7, 2002, and patiently aged for 15 years in 350-liter oak barrels, developing deep aromas and perfect harmony on the palate. Each bottle is carefully presented in an elegant box accompanied by two specially designed tasting glasses to reveal all the finesse of this exceptional agricole rum.
