WORTHY PARK - 2010 - Port Finish - Special Cask Series - 45%
Worthy Park is an iconic distillery located in Jamaica, specifically in the famous Lluidas Valley. Founded in 1670, this distillery has preserved its historic building while expanding its estate through the acquisition of neighboring properties. The estate has belonged to the prestigious Clarke family since 1918, who have upheld a unique tradition of excellence. Originally, the farm was not limited to sugar production: it was a true diversified agricultural estate encompassing cattle breeding, citrus cultivation, poultry, and other varied productions. However, the agricultural strategy gradually focused on intensive sugarcane cultivation and specialized sugar production, and today about 40% of the land is dedicated to the sugar industry with an incredible diversity of 20 different varieties of sugarcane.
Worthy Park is recognized for producing Jamaican rum of exceptional quality since the 1740s, making it one of the historical references in the tropical rum landscape. After a forced interruption in 1962 due to an agreement with the Spirits Pool Association of Jamaica, distillation resumed strongly and passionately in 2004, driven by the Clarke family's desire to reinvent authentic Jamaican rum using top-quality ingredients. Distillation is done according to the emblematic traditional Jamaican Pot-Still method, thus guaranteeing a unique character and incomparable aromatic richness.
This exclusive edition of the Special Cask Series was distilled in 2010 and then patiently aged for 10 years: it rested 8 years in ex-Bourbon barrels before being refined for 2 years in ex-Porto Ruby barrels, giving the rum intense fruity notes and remarkable complexity.
