La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries in Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the ruins of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, Henri Dormoy became the owner and undertook significant improvements to transform the sugar factory into a renowned distillery. Despite some difficulties related to Albert Dormoy's (his son) passion for gambling, which led to the cessation of activity in 1938, the distillery was revived in 1956 thanks to the commitment of his younger brother André, who completely renovated it. Today, La Favorite cultivates 60 hectares of sugar cane and also sources from small local producers, maintaining a unique know-how with a steam engine from 1906 still in operation. The vesou (cane wine), resulting from a long fermentation that can last up to 72 hours, is distilled in two distinct Creole columns: one entirely copper, in service since 1957, and a second more modern one dating from 1986.
This Brut two columns cuvée (a subtle play on words reflecting the union of the two distillation columns) is the latest creation from the famous La Favorite distillery. Here, communion is the key word: that of the two Creole columns of the estate, but also that of two complementary skills. This raw column agricole rum embodies artisanal work combined with the creative genius of Lucas Vallerie, a local artist who captured and transcribed the unique soul of La Favorite in a unique and contemporary label. With an exceptional strength of 73.2% vol., this rum is never diluted by adding water, guaranteeing an intense and authentic tasting experience. Prepare your senses for an unforgettable tasting!
In a strong eco-responsible approach, La Favorite is also committed to using labels, back labels, and cases made from recycled paper, composed of 95% sugar cane fibers, enriched with 5% hemp and flax, thus enhancing local natural resources and reducing environmental impact.
