Compagnie des Indes - Aged Rum - 20 years - Caroni - Rare edition limited to 290 bottles - 59.8% ABV
Compagnie des Indes, created in 2016 under the visionary leadership of Pierre Beuchet, pays tribute to the prestigious East India companies of the 17th and 18th centuries, renowned for the exclusive trade of fine products from the most distant regions. True to this historical inspiration, the brand produces exceptional rums that authentically reflect the unique terroir of their origin. These rums with a strong sensory identity transport you to the heart of their native culture, offering an immersive and refined tasting experience.
We present here a bottle of extreme rarity from Compagnie des Indes: a 20-year-old single cask from the legendary Caroni distillery. Founded in 1918 in Trinidad & Tobago, the Caroni distillery was a key reference in the Caribbean rum industry. Owning its own sugar mill to ensure the excellence of the sugarcane used, this state-owned estate perfectly controlled the quality of its local raw material. Equipped with various stills, combining column and pot stills, Caroni long maintained a fascinating mystery around its production, with few rums marketed under its name. The spirits from this legendary distillery are distinguished by a unique aromatic profile, blending powerful notes of hydrocarbons, soft spices, and golden honey, contributing to their inimitable character. The closure of the distillery in 2002, a direct consequence of the local sugar industry crisis, has given these rums a precious rarity, elevating them to icons in the world of exceptional rum.
This limited edition, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2018, is numbered and limited to only 290 copies. A true gem for collectors and discerning enthusiasts, this great exceptional rum now represents a rare opportunity, a heritage piece that Clos des Spiritueux is proud to offer exclusively in its online shop.
