RHUM LONGUETEAU - Exceptional aged rum - 120 years decanter no. 335/500 - 43% ABV
The Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe in 1766, bringing with them a heritage and agricultural tradition that has endured for several centuries. Towards the end of the 19th century, Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie, which was auctioned following a severe crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he transformed the Espérance estate, previously a sugar factory, into a distillery, marking the beginning of a family adventure centered around the production of exceptional rum.
Today, François Longueteau continues this tradition by leading the house. He represents a rare exception in Guadeloupe, being both a farmer and master distiller. His rums are made 100% from sugarcane grown on his own lands, thus guaranteeing absolute control over the quality of the raw material. The juices are harvested and crushed on the same day of their full maturity, then fermented for 48 hours "without tricks": no use of antifoaming agents, acidifiers, or additives alters this natural process. Distillation is then carried out in a Savalle column with 28 plates, a traditional technique ensuring finesse and aromatic complexity.
This 120 years decanter no. 335/500 is a work of art, adorned with four emblematic curves representing the four successive generations of the Longueteau family. It highlights an exceptional blend of the house's historic vintages, reflecting the evolution and excellence of the know-how passed down from generation to generation:
- 1924: first aged rum from Longueteau, crafted by the founder Henri Longueteau.
- 1940: exceptional vintage made by Henri's son, considered one of the house's greatest vintages.
- 1997: precious creation by Paul-Henri Longueteau, a true rare and sought-after gem.
- 2006: historic vintage for François Longueteau, marking his first blend of Longueteau aged rums, combining tradition and modernity.
