The Springbank Distillery is recognized as one of the most iconic in Scotland, located in the legendary Campbeltown region on the Kintyre peninsula, in the southwest of the country. Founded in 1828 by Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, it is today one of the last two historic distilleries in Campbeltown still in operation and remains exclusively owned by the founders' descendants. Springbank stands out for its complete mastery of all stages of the production process: from traditional on-site barley malting to bottling, thus offering absolute control over the quality and authenticity of its Single Malts. The distillery produces three unique expressions with distinct identities: Springbank (balance and complexity), Longrow (heavily peated), and Hazelburn (triple distilled, unpeated). This rare expertise allows Springbank to offer remarkable whiskies, appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide.
It should be noted that the parent company JA Mitchell & Sons also oversees the revival of the Glengyle distillery, creator of the famous Kilkerran Single Malt, and includes in its group the independent bottler Cadenhead’s, an essential reference in the premium spirits world.
The particularity of Springbank Single Malts lies in the blend of air-dried and peat-dried malts, a so-called "two and a half times" distillation, offering richness, texture, and personality to the whisky. By comparison, Hazelburn benefits from triple distillation for greater lightness, while Longrow, distilled twice, offers remarkable peated intensity.
Springbank 15 years is a vintage aged for 15 years in Oloroso Sherry casks, revealing a deeply aromatic palette: elegant aromas of dried fruits, dark chocolate, leather, and spices, with a delicate smoky hint typical of the distillery.
