SAVANNA - 10-year-old Rum - Vintage 2007 - Grand Arôme cask 515 - Ommaggio Herr Velier Finish - 55.10%
Originally, the Savanna Estate, located in Saint-Paul at the foot of the majestic mountains of Réunion, was a sugar factory founded in the early 19th century. The Savanna distillery, on the other hand, was established a little later, between 1948 and 1950, thanks to the visionary ambition of Émile Hugot. A former student of the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris, Émile Hugot became an iconic and international figure in the sugar industry. Since 1982, thanks to a strategic partnership, the Savanna distillery has been able to elevate the quality of its rums by entering the premium rum segment, an excellence recognized by being the first European distillery certified ISO 9002. The aging is delicately done in French oak barrels and casks from the prestigious forests of Limousin and Allier, giving the rums a unique and complex aromatic richness.
The Ommaggio cuvée is a molasses rum, classified as grand arôme due to its exceptionally long fermentation, guaranteeing incomparable intensity and aromatic depth. This 10-year-old rum, from the 2007 vintage, is an exclusive single cask, barrel number 515. It was carefully aged in a Herr cask, bringing its particular touch during bottling under the prestigious Velier house. Production is limited to only 740 numbered bottles, making it a highly sought-after rarity among connoisseurs and collectors.
