Foursquare - Fidelitas - Mise Vélier - 20 years - Vintage 2004 - 55%
Located in the south of Barbados , the Foursquare Distillery, owned by the Seale family, embodies nearly two centuries of rum-making expertise. Since 1820, five generations have run this historic house, founded by Reginald Leon Seale , a pioneer of the island's rum trade. In 1995, the acquisition of a former 17th-century sugar mill marked the birth of the modern Foursquare, led by Sir David Seale . Today, under the direction of Richard Seale , the distillery combines triple column stills and copper pot stills to produce complex rums, made in small batches from fermented molasses, then aged in tropical climates in ex-Bourbon barrels.
Fidelitas 2004 is an exceptional rum produced by double distillation (column & pot still), aged for 19 years in ex-Bourbon barrels , then refined for 1 year in ex-Marsala barrels , as part of an exclusive Vélier blend . A vintage that embodies the rigor and elegance of the Foursquare style.
"The nose is dense and expressive, carried by notes of burnt caramel, candied fruits, blond tobacco and noble wood. The palate, ample and velvety, reveals a beautiful richness of dried fig, sweet spices, date and bitter cocoa. The finish, long and racy, ends with a subtle touch of oxidative sweet wine, brought by the Marsala barrel. A rum for contemplation, racy and mastered."
