Clos des Spiritueux is proud to present one of the most prestigious creations from the Foursquare distillery, a leading reference for rum from Barbados. Founded in the south of the island and operated by the Seale family for five generations, Foursquare is a pioneer, combining tradition and expertise since 1820. It is one of the oldest family-run houses in the sector, with know-how passed down from generation to generation.
Originally, Reginald Leon Seale, faced with the restrictions of Barbados’ excise duty law, launched the R.L. Seale brand in Bridgetown at the start of the 20th century. From 1962 to 1993, prestigious brands such as Old Brigand, Taylor’s Falernum, and Doorly’s enriched the family portfolio. The house’s growth was confirmed in 1995 under the leadership of Sir David Seale, who bought an old sugar factory founded in 1636, now the emblematic site of the Foursquare Distillery. Thanks to investments and a modern vision, this distillery stands out for its state-of-the-art equipment: a three-column still for producing fine and light rums, as well as a modern copper pot still that allows for the production of richer and more complex rums. Distillation is done exclusively from small-batch fermented molasses, then aging takes place in a tropical climate, in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks mainly from Lynchburg, Tennessee, ensuring incomparable aromatic quality.
Foursquare Equidem 14 years stands out as a unique blend of rums aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Black Muscat casks, giving it an exceptional aromatic palette. Made from distillations in copper pot still and double column, it benefits from a prolonged tropical aging of 14 years, ensuring perfect maturity and rare concentration.
