ABERLOUR - A Bunadh - Batch 81 - 61.6%
The Aberlour Distillery is located in the heart of the renowned Speyside region in Scotland, in the eponymous village whose name means "mouth of the babbling brook" in Gaelic. Founded in 1879 by James Fleming, Aberlour benefits from a strategic location ensuring a constant supply of pure water from the crystalline springs at the foot of the pink granite of Ben Rinnes. This exceptional natural environment gives its whiskies a unique signature. In 1898, a fire partially destroyed the distillery, which was then rebuilt by the famous architect Charles Doig. Production capacity was doubled in 1974, increasing from 2 to 4 stills. Since 1975, the distillery has belonged to the Pernod Ricard group and is operated under the prestigious Chivas Brothers banner.
Aberlour's four high-tech stills now produce about 3,500,000 liters per year. During distillation, the master distiller carefully segments the colorless new-make spirit into three parts: the head, the heart, and the tail. Only the central part, or heart, known for its delicate and fruity berry aromas, is collected in the maturation cask to give life to the sublime Aberlour Single Malt. The head and tail fractions, less elegant, are returned to the still for redistillation, thus ensuring the purity and finesse of the final product.
A'Bunadh means "the original" in Gaelic, and pays tribute to the heritage of Aberlour's founder, James Fleming. This exceptional whisky is matured exclusively in Oloroso Sherry casks, bringing rich, deep, and spicy notes. It is bottled cask strength, without chill filtration or dilution, thus preserving all the natural aromatic richness and expressive power of the spirit.
