SPRINGBANK - 12 years - Cask Strength - 56.2%
The Springbank Distillery is one of the last two historic distilleries still operating in the iconic Campbeltown region, located on the Kintyre peninsula in southwest Scotland. Renowned for its authentic artisanal production, this family-owned distillery crafts exceptional Single Malt whiskies under three distinct labels with varied styles: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Founded in 1828 by brothers Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, Springbank became the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown – a region once famous for its many distilleries, now reduced to only two, Springbank and Glen Scotia. This whisky gem remains owned by the direct descendants of the founders, ensuring traditional know-how passed down through generations.
Unique in Scotland, the distillery carries out all production steps on-site, from traditional barley malting to final bottling. This complete control of the process allows Springbank to create three unique styles, influenced by the careful selection of casks and the specific microclimate of Campbeltown. Springbank's parent company, JA Mitchell & Sons, also revived the Glengyle distillery in 2004, where Single Malts are produced under the Kilkerran brand. The group also owns the independent bottler Cadenhead's, known for its exclusive and rare selections.
This remarkable expression of 12 years old Springbank was launched in 2024 and is presented in a cask strength version at an impressive 56.2%. Fully matured in Bourbon and Sherry casks, this whisky develops a perfect balance between aromatic richness and power, revealing deep and complex notes that will delight lovers of fine and authentic whiskies.
