EDRADOUR - 10 years - Vintage 2014 - Sherry Cask - Foundations - 59.7%
Edradour is an iconic whisky distillery from the Scottish Highlands, located in the charming village of Moulin, near Pitlochry. Recognized as the smallest traditional Scottish whisky distillery, it is also the last small farm producer dating back to the Victorian era still in operation. Its history is fascinating, blending craftsmanship and untold anecdotes, including its surprising connection with the New York mafia. Founded in 1825 under the name Glenforres Distillery by a cooperative of passionate local farmers, it has managed to survive through the centuries while preserving its authenticity. In 1938, Irving Haim, an agent of the famous mafia boss Frank Costello, took the reins by becoming the main shareholder. After his death in 1976, the distillery passed into the hands of an American-Australian consortium, then was integrated into a Pernod Ricard subsidiary in 1982. Since 2002, it has belonged to Signatory Vintage Ltd. Edradour still preserves many traditional elements and unique old equipment, such as the mash tun cooled by the last commercial Morton refrigerator operating exclusively with cold water, all without any computer control, thus guaranteeing authentic and artisanal production.
This limited edition of Edradour was distilled on July 18, 2014, and aged for 10 years in a unique Single Cask (#291). The whisky benefited from an exceptional finishing in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry cask, bringing aromatic richness and gustatory depth. Only 655 bottles were produced, making this batch a true treasure for collectors and discerning enthusiasts.
Non-peated, this whisky reveals purity and elegance, perfect for those seeking a refined and authentic tasting experience.
