KILKERRAN - Heavily Peated - Batch 10 - 57.8%
The Springbank Distillery is one of the last two remaining artisanal distilleries still operating in the historic Campbeltown region, located on the Kintyre peninsula in the southwest of Scotland. This iconic distillery is renowned for producing exceptional Single Malt whiskies under three unique brands with distinct styles: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Founded in 1828 by Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, Springbank is the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown and, since 1934, has been one of the few to survive alongside Glen Scotia. The distillery remains family-owned, held by the direct descendants of the founders, thus perpetuating unparalleled traditional expertise. Springbank is distinguished by carrying out its entire production on-site, including traditional barley malting, mashing, distillation, and bottling—a rigorous control that guarantees exceptional quality and diversity of its whiskies. This artisanal process gives rise to three distinct styles, all deeply influenced by the meticulous choice of aging casks and the particular oceanic climate of Campbeltown. Furthermore, Springbank's parent company, JA Mitchell & Sons, revitalized the Glengyle distillery in 2004, where Single Malts are produced under the prestigious Kilkerran brand. The group also owns the renowned independent bottler Cadenhead's, an additional guarantee of quality and authenticity.
This exceptional expression of Kilkerran was released in 2024 and corresponds to the tenth batch of the highly sought-after Heavily Peated series. This unique whisky was matured entirely in Bourbon and Sherry casks, which imparts a deep aromatic richness and a perfect balance between sweetness and intensity. Its strength at 57.8% alcohol reveals intense peated notes, characteristic of the Single Malts produced in Campbeltown, with a rounded and complex profile.
