Reimonenq - Quintessence Cuvée - Vintage 2001 - Centenary (1916-2016) - 42%
The Reimonenq Distillery, an emblem of the rum heritage of Guadeloupe, is located in the heart of Sainte Rose. Founded in 1915, this distillery was established when Joseph Reimonenq acquired the former cocoa and medicinal plant plantation owned by Doctor Diavet. Quickly, Joseph began clearing the land for sugarcane planting and the construction of a wooden distillery, a symbol of unique artisanal know-how. At that time, Joseph Reimonenq, a finance diplomat, simultaneously managed the negotiation of rum sales to mainland France as well as the administration of the distillery, while his brother, Fernand Reimonenq, dedicated himself to the agricultural and daily management of the estate. The partnership with André Bon, who provided a steam engine and a mill, marked a major step in the industrialization of production. A few years later, André retired to Bordeaux, where he continued the sugar and rum trade. Following Fernand's death, his son Léopold Reimonenq took up the family torch. Despite a devastating fire in 1970 that completely destroyed the distillery, it rose from the ashes and resumed production in 1974, thus perpetuating a century-old tradition recognized worldwide.
The Centenary Quintessence Cuvée (1916 – 2016) celebrates the founders Joseph and Fernand Reimonenq, true pioneers of Guadeloupe agricultural rum in 1916. This exceptional limited edition comes from a meticulous blend of nine carefully selected barrels from the 2001 vintage, offering a rich and complex tasting experience that will delight lovers of exceptional rums. This Quintessence cuvée perfectly illustrates the alliance between tradition, artisanal expertise, and excellence, thus placing the Reimonenq Distillery among the essential references of high-end spirits from the French Antilles.
