Glann Ar Mor - Malt Plumage Archer - Single Cask - 49.4%
Celtic Whisky Distillerie is located in Pleubian, in the department of Côtes d’Armor, the heart of authentic Brittany. Founded in 1997 by Martine and Jean Donnay, it is unanimously recognized as a pioneer of artisanal French whisky. The distillery stands out for unique features that guarantee the production of exceptional whiskies: direct flame heating, slow and controlled distillation, traditional equipment with two small pot stills, as well as original wooden fermenters. Aging by the sea, in warehouses exposed to sea spray and marine winds, gives the whiskies a unique aromatic profile, combining balance and complexity from their youth. In 2020, the renowned Maison Villevert, a leading player in exceptional French spirits based in the historic Cognac region, acquired Celtic Whisky Distillerie, thus strengthening its position in the landscape of great French whiskies.
The first Single Malt produced by Celtic Whisky Distillerie bears the evocative name Glann ar Mor, which means "Seaside" in Breton. The second Single Malt, Kornog, captivates with its peaty intensity reminiscent of the famous Islay Scotch whiskies, while Gwalarn is the house's signature blend, combining finesse and complexity.
Glann ar Mor perfectly reflects the maritime spirit of the distillery. This limited edition Malt Plumage Archer is made from malted barley of the Plumage Archer variety, exclusively selected for its aromatic qualities and richness. This single cask is then slowly aged in Bourbon barrels, immersed in the salty air of the humid warehouses, which imparts remarkable marine and iodine notes to the whisky. The reduction to 49.4% is done with the pure and crystalline spring water unique to the distillery, thus ensuring optimal preservation of delicate aromas.
