Glann Ar Mor - Single Malt - 46%
Celtic Whisky Distillerie is located in Pleubian, in the department of Côtes d’Armor, in the heart of the prestigious Brittany region. Founded in 1997 by the passionate Martine and Jean Donnay, this distillery is recognized as an iconic pioneer of artisanal French whisky. It combines exceptional traditional know-how with a unique environment, ensuring superior quality. Among its key features are open flame heating, slow and controlled distillation, as well as the use of traditional equipment such as two small pot stills and old-generation wooden fermenters. Furthermore, the aging of whiskies by the sea, in humid warehouses swept by sea winds, gives its products an early and unique aromatic balance and complexity.
In 2020, Maison Villevert, a key player in the premium French spirits sector, based in the renowned Cognac region, acquired Celtic Whisky Distillerie, thereby strengthening its presence in the world of exceptional whisky.
The very first Single Malt created by Celtic Whisky Distillerie is named Glann ar Mor, which in Breton means "Seaside." Its second Single Malt, Kornog, is distinguished by an intensely peated profile, reminiscent of the famous Scottish whiskies from the island of Islay. Finally, Gwalarn represents the distillery's signature blend, combining finesse and harmony of flavors.
Glann ar Mor is made from high-quality malted barley, the recognized variety Maris Otter Barley. Its meticulous distillation is followed by aging in Bourbon barrels, directly benefiting from the salty and iodine influence of the sea, in naturally humid warehouses. This unique process gives the Single Malt a distinct maritime character, combining freshness and aromatic depth.
