Worthy Park - Select - Jamaican Rum - 40%
Worthy Park is an iconic distillery located in Jamaica, in the heart of the famous Lluidas Valley. Founded in 1670, this historic distillery has preserved its original building while expanding its estate through the acquisition of neighboring properties. The estate has belonged to the Clarke family since 1918, a passionate family with deep roots in Jamaican agriculture and rum production. In its early days, Worthy Park was not only dedicated to rum production but also engaged in sugarcane cultivation, sugar production, as well as cattle breeding, citrus farming, poultry, and other diversified agricultural activities.
Over the decades, the distillery gradually reduced its diversified farming to specialize in intensive sugarcane cultivation, essential for rum production. Today, about 40% of the land is dedicated to this crop, encompassing no less than 20 different varieties of sugarcane, thus ensuring rich and complex aromas. Worthy Park has been producing rum since the 1740s, a long tradition that has shaped its unique expertise.
After a production halt in 1962 related to an agreement with the Spirits Pool Association of Jamaica, the distillery was reactivated in 2004 by the Clarke family, who chose to continue making authentic Jamaican rums, combining quality and traditional methods. Today, Worthy Park is recognized for producing rums distilled using the traditional Jamaican Pot-Still method, highlighting the original taste and aromatic robustness typical of pot still rums.
Worthy Park Select is a molasses rum made exclusively from sugarcane grown at the distillery. It results from a carefully mastered blend of rums aged between 4 and 12 years in Bourbon barrels, giving it a complex aromatic palette with woody, spicy, and slightly vanilla notes. It is the ideal choice for lovers of authentic Jamaican rums seeking a rich and balanced tasting experience.
