LAGAVULIN - 16 years - 43% ABV
Lagavulin is an iconic distillery located on the southern shore of the island of Islay, in Scotland, a region famous for its whiskies with unique characters. Its Gaelic name means "the hollow by the mill," reflecting its authentic and traditional origin. Renowned worldwide, Lagavulin produces an exceptional Single Malt whisky, heavily peated and rich in powerful iodine notes, characteristics that appeal to lovers of intense maritime flavors. Part of the prestigious United Distillers subsidiary of Diageo, the distillery, founded in 1816, is one of the three historic producers along the coast between the villages of Port Ellen and Kildalton, alongside Ardbeg and Laphroaig.
To ensure this unique quality, Lagavulin exclusively uses the crystal-clear water from the nearby Solum Lochs, while the malted barley comes from facilities located in Port Ellen, in close proximity. The distillery has four traditional stills that allow meticulous distillation, giving rise to several refined expressions spread across three main series. Lagavulin's character is both powerful and complex, with a flavor profile marked by maritime iodine flavors, slightly medicinal notes, and smoky tar hints, making this Single Malt a must-have for connoisseurs seeking authenticity and aromatic depth.
