Sampan is an exceptional white rum originating from Vietnam, crafted with passion at the Distillery of Indochina. Founded by a group of friends who are experts in wines and spirits, this distillery embodies the perfect synthesis of their deep love for rum and their attachment to Vietnamese cultural richness. Located by the sea, the distillery benefits from a privileged natural environment, offering ideal conditions for production and barrel aging. The sugarcane fields, cultivated using traditional methods 40 km from the distillery, are free from pesticides and chemicals, ensuring healthy and sustainable farming. The harvest, done entirely by hand, allows for a rigorous selection of the best canes. The local Quan Nam variety, known for its exceptional quality and unique aromatic notes, gives Sampan rum a distinctive character and remarkable flavor richness.
The sugarcane harvest for Sampan rum is carefully carried out at the end of the day to preserve the freshness and natural concentration of the juices. This artisanal work with manual harvesting results in low but high-quality yields, guaranteeing an exceptional product. The processing begins with crushing the canes within 12 hours of cutting, ensuring maximum freshness and flavor. Fermentation, carried out in temperature-controlled tanks, is carefully monitored between 72 and 96 hours for a gentle and progressive maturation of aromas. The fermented juice is then continuously distilled in a 1,000-liter copper column still, optimizing purity and aromatic concentration from each of the 4 fermentation tanks.
This prestigious white rum is made exclusively from pure sugarcane juice, distilled in a copper column still in August 2021. After optimal resting, it was bottled in July 2022, ready to offer an intense and authentic sensory experience, reflecting Vietnamese know-how and artisanal excellence.
