Lagg - Inaugural Release - Batch 2 - 50%
The Lagg Distillery is ideally located in the south of Arran Island, in the beautiful region of Scotland. This exceptional distillery was established by Isle of Arran Distillers, a renowned company based in Lochranza, in the north of the island. Unlike the classic Arran style, which is not peated, the Lochranza distillery produces a small annual quantity of peated malt for its Machrie Moor expression. In November 2017, the construction of the Lagg Distillery allowed Isle of Arran Distillers to transfer all peated whisky production to this innovative new site.
Dedicated to the in-depth exploration of peat, the Lagg distillery constantly experiments, working with different yeast strains and several barley varieties to reveal all the subtleties of the production process. Furthermore, with 140 apple trees already planted on the surrounding estate, Lagg innovates by producing its own cider and apple brandy, distinguishing itself from the current trend among so-called "craft" Scottish distilleries that often focus on gin production.
Lagg distillery marked an important milestone with the recovery of its first distillate on March 19, 2019, at 2:35 pm, followed by the filling of its first cask on April 10 of the same year: an exceptional Sherry butt, exclusively reserved for privileged members of the Lagg Cask Society.
This highly anticipated second edition of the Lagg Single Malt is crafted from the prestigious Concerto barley variety. The peat used for its malt comes from the northeast of Scotland, bringing a unique and refined aromatic signature. Produced through traditional double distillation, this whisky benefits from careful aging in first-fill ex-Sherry Oloroso casks, imparting richness and complexity to every tasting note.
