Bunnahabhain - Stiureadair - Sherry Cask - 46.3%
The Bunnahabhain Distillery, an iconic jewel of the island of Islay (pronounced "Ayla"), in Scotland, boasts a rich history since its founding in 1881 by William Robertson in partnership with William and James Greenlees. By 1883, the distillery was experiencing flourishing production, further enhanced in 1963 by doubling its stills to meet the growing demand from Scottish whisky enthusiasts. Despite a temporary halt in 1982 due to a market downturn, production resumed in 1984. Several ownership changes marked its journey before its integration into the prestigious Distell group in 2013. Bunnahabhain whisky is made from lightly peated malted barley, blended with pure water from the "Margadale" spring heated to create an exceptional wort. Fermentation takes place in Oregon pine vats, ensuring optimal quality. True to its traditions, Bunnahabhain produces exclusively non-chill-filtered Single Malt whiskies. Unlike other Islay whiskies, its expressions are lightly peated and non-smoky, offering a unique and refined profile.
Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair (a Gaelic term meaning "Helmsman", pronounced "Stew-rahdur") is a carefully balanced blend of first and second fill sherry casks, selected from different years and warehouse locations, revealing deep and complex flavors, ideal for exceptional whisky lovers and connoisseurs seeking authenticity.
