The exceptional story of Plantation begins in 1989 when Alexandre Gabriel discovers the renowned Maison Ferrand in Cognac. Driven by a deep passion for exceptional spirits, he gathered a team of dedicated experts and traveled the world to build a committed distribution network sharing the values of excellence and artisanal expertise of Maison Ferrand. In the 1990s, his journey took him to the Caribbean with an innovative idea: to give a second life to used Cognac barrels by reselling them to other producers, notably rum makers. In search of the best rums from Caribbean terroirs, he thus created the prestigious range of Plantation terroir rums, synonymous with quality, authenticity, and traditional know-how. Today, Maison Ferrand shines through three major families of elite spirits: Ferrand Cognac from Grande Champagne, the French Gin Citadelle, and the exceptional Plantation Rum. Plantation is also the owner of the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and a key shareholder of National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon Distillery and Long Pond), demonstrating its commitment to the premium rum world.
The famous "Under the Sea" collection by Plantation celebrates the richness of marine biodiversity and the authenticity of underwater ecosystems from the six most emblematic rum regions. Each edition is distinguished by vibrant colors and a careful selection of local marine species brilliantly symbolizing the specificity of each terroir. This exceptional bottle is a molasses rum of Fijian origin, distilled in 2009 in a Charentais pot still, combining French tradition and island authenticity. It benefited from a unique aging of 10 years in 200-liter ex-Bourbon barrels under tropical climate in Lautoka, ensuring richness and roundness, followed by 3 years in continental climate in 350-liter oak barrels within Maison Ferrand in Javrezac, refining its aromas for perfect balance. This double maturation gives this rum an exceptional aromatic complexity, a deep character, and an elegant texture, making this vintage a must-have for lovers of rare and refined rum.
