FOURSQUARE - Indelible - 11 years - 48%
The Foursquare Rum Distillery (as well as Heritage Park) is ideally located in the south of Barbados, a region renowned for its exceptional expertise in the art of rum. This iconic distillery belongs to the prestigious Seale family, which carries on an ancestral tradition with already 5 generations of expertise in producing exceptional rums, dating back to 1820. Recognized as one of the oldest and most respected trading houses in Barbados, Foursquare benefits from a unique heritage. At a time when Reginald Leon Seale, like other merchants, could not sell directly to consumers due to strict excise duty regulations in Barbados, he cleverly created a distribution company in Bridgetown in the early 1900s, thus giving birth to the iconic R. L. Seale brand. Between 1962 and 1993, the company enriched its catalog with celebrated rums such as ESA Field, Alleyne Arthur, Old Brigand, Taylor's Falernum, and Doorly's. To optimize its commercial strategy, ESA Field and Old Brigand continued to focus on the local market, where their success is historic, while Doorly became a major export brand. In 1995, under the enlightened vision of Sir David Seale, the family acquired an old sugar factory whose main building, dating from 1636, was then in ruins. This acquisition was the starting point for transforming this site into the now famous Foursquare Distillery. The distillery today stands out by combining traditional and modern technologies: a three-column still for light rums, and a contemporary copper pot still for richer and more complex rums, both made from fermented molasses in small controlled batches (about 112 barrels). Tropical aging is carried out in small American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, stored in large open-walled warehouses, often from former facilities of a distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. This method guarantees a unique maturation, revealing an intense and refined aromatic profile.
The Foursquare Indelible is an exceptional rum, distilled by skillfully combining pot and column stills, then aged for 11 years in carefully selected barrels, blending ex-Bourbon and ex-Zinfandel (a characterful red wine). This process gives this rum a remarkable aromatic complexity, mixing woody richness, fruity and spicy notes. Launched in September 2021 in America and available in France since March 2022, this very rare rum is produced in limited quantity: fewer than 600 bottles are available in France, making it a true gem for demanding enthusiasts and collectors.
