The Savanna Distillery is passionately established on the Island of Réunion, a renowned terroir for lovers of exceptional rum. Designed and built between 1948 and 1950 by the visionary Emile Hugot, this distillery located in Saint-Paul was originally part of the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery strengthened its expertise by acquiring a distillation workshop exclusively dedicated to the production of light rum for export, in response to a major contract signed with a leading German spirits market player. This strategic step was the catalyst for a major evolution: the diversification and continuous improvement of the quality of the rums produced.
Today, the Savanna Distillery stands out by exporting the majority of its production to demanding professionals. Like many great rum producers, it uses a traditional batch fermentation process – also called the "mother tank" method – consisting of eight fermenters each with a capacity of 100 m3, complemented by a network of satellites. This artisanal process gives the rum a high organoleptic quality, a guarantee of authenticity and aromatic richness.
This Savanna rum, aged for 5 years, is the result of a meticulous blend of ten French oak barrels carefully selected from the prestigious forests of Allier and Limousin. This maturation in noble barrels brings a unique aromatic complexity, ranging from woody, vanilla, and spicy notes, for an absolutely remarkable tasting experience.
