Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned independent bottler of Scottish whisky and the historic owner of the Benromach distillery. Known for its exceptionally diverse range of rare and unique bottlings, this company carefully selects whiskies from some of Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. Founded in 1895 as a grocer and wine and spirits merchant located in Elgin, in the heart of Speyside in northeast Scotland, the company has evolved with tradition and passion. In 1915, former apprentice John Urquhart took full control of the company, which remains over a century later a respected and influential family business in the world of premium whisky.

The Caol Ila distillery is located northeast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, renowned for its iconic Single Malts. It is the largest single malt distillery on the island in terms of production capacity. Founded in 1846 near Port Askaig, it is now a jewel in the Diageo portfolio. Its significant production is largely used for famous blends, notably the renowned Johnnie Walker. In response to growing demand, the old distillery was replaced in 1974 by a modern and larger facility. Since 2010, production has nearly doubled, increasing from 3.5 to 6.5 million liters annually. Until 2002, Caol Ila Single Malts were only available through independent bottlers before the official release of the 12-year-old Caol Ila. The malted barley comes from Port Ellen, and the stills, significantly larger than those of other Islay distilleries, are filled halfway, optimizing the contact between alcohol vapor and copper. This unique process gives Caol Ila expressions that are generally less peated than those usually associated with Islay whiskies, offering a subtle and elegant smoky character. Additionally, unpeated versions are sometimes produced, enhancing the aromatic diversity of this renowned distillery.
