RENEGADE - Pre Cask - New Bacolet - 50%
Renegade Rum Distillery represents the most recent and innovative project led by the illustrious expert who orchestrated the revival of Bruichladdich Single Malt whisky from Islay as well as the iconic creation of the Waterford distillery, rooted in the unique terroirs of Ireland: Mark Reynier. The strategic decision to establish in Grenada is explained by the exceptional diversity of its altitudes, varied microclimates, and rich soils, offering an ideal terrain for sugarcane cultivation. In close partnership with local agricultural players from CaneCo, many varieties of sugarcane have been carefully cultivated across the island on different authentic terroirs. This venture has allowed Grenadian farmers, whether experienced or passionate novices, to develop new skills, master the latest modern agricultural technologies, and transform several areas of the island into highly qualitative sugarcane farms, thus ensuring exceptional raw material quality.
The New Bacolet rum is made from the rare Lacalome Red variety (B80689), precisely harvested between January 11 and 21, 2021, on the renowned Goat Hill field plot. This estate is located on steep south-facing slopes, benefiting from particularly fertile colluvial soils. The careful fermentation of the cane lasted 60 hours, ensuring optimal extraction of the unique aromas of the raw material. Distillation took place on January 21 and 22, 2021, in a traditional still, faithful to artisanal know-how. This exceptional rum was then bottled in early July 2021, with a limited production of only 3,678 bottles, highlighting its rare and exclusive character.
