The Foursquare Rum Distillery (as well as Heritage Park) is located in the south of the beautiful island of Barbados. This family distillery belongs to the prestigious Seale family, which has been passing down exceptional expertise in rum making for five generations, since 1820. Recognized as one of the oldest trading houses in Barbados, it embodies a unique heritage. At the time, Reginald Leon Seale, like several other traders, was prohibited from selling rum directly to consumers under Barbados excise duty legislation. His response was to establish in the early 1900s a distribution company based in Bridgetown, thus giving birth to the famous R. L. Seale brand. Between 1962 and 1993, the company diversified its offerings with iconic rums such as ESA Field, Alleyne Arthur, Old Brigand, Taylor's Falernum, and Doorly's, significantly expanding its product portfolio. To optimize its commercial strategy, ESA Field and Old Brigand were positioned on the local market, where their success is enduring, while Doorly became the flagship brand intended for export. In 1995, encouraged by Sir David Seale, the family acquired an old sugar factory whose structures dating back to 1636 were then in disrepair. This acquisition proved decisive: the site became the famous Foursquare Distillery. Today, the distillery is equipped with a three-column still for the production of light rums and a modern copper pot still for more complex rums. Distillation is still carried out on a small scale (usually 112 barrels) from fermented molasses, followed by tropical aging. The rums are aged in small American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels in huge open warehouses, some of the barrels coming from a famous distillery located in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

The Shibboleth is an exceptional rum, distilled both in copper pot stills and column stills, then aged for 16 years in ex-Bourbon barrels, thus giving this spirit a remarkable aromatic depth. Released in March 2021, this rum combines finesse and power, with a high alcohol content of 56%, perfect for lovers of extraordinary and complex rums.
