WORTHY PARK - 2010 - Madeira Finish - Special Barrel Series - 45%
Worthy Park is an iconic distillery located in Jamaica, in the heart of the splendid Lluidas Valley. Founded in 1670, it retains its original historic building while expanding its estate through the acquisition of neighboring properties. The estate has proudly belonged to the Clarke family since 1918, a passionate family that perpetuates ancestral expertise. Originally, Worthy Park was not solely dedicated to sugarcane cultivation and traditional sugar production, but also used its lands for cattle breeding, citrus growing, poultry, and other varied agricultural productions. However, over time, diversification gave way to increased specialization in sugarcane cultivation, which today represents about 40% of the cultivated area, with an exceptional richness of 20 different sugarcane varieties carefully selected for their unique qualities. Worthy Park has been producing Jamaican rum since the 1740s, thus benefiting from historical expertise. After a halt imposed by an agreement with the Spirits Pool Association of Jamaica in 1962, distillation resumed in 2004, marking a true revival under the visionary leadership of the Clarkes who decided to bring back premium Jamaican rum, made from exceptional ingredients and distilled according to the traditional Jamaican Pot-Still method, a guarantee of authenticity and intense character.
This prestigious Special Barrel Series was distilled in 2010 and benefits from meticulous aging of 10 years: 8 years in ex-Bourbon barrels which bring warm and vanilla aromas, complemented by 2 years in ex-Madeira barrels providing a delicate finish with fruity and subtly spicy notes.
