SAVANNA - 5 years - Traditional - 43%
The Savanna Distillery is ideally located on the Island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir renowned for its outstanding rum. Founded between 1948 and 1950 by the visionary Emile Hugot, this distillery based in Saint Paul has preserved a unique artisanal know-how. At its beginnings, it was integrated into the sugar factory of the same name, reflecting its origins deeply rooted in the local sugar tradition. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery took a strategic turn by acquiring a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rum intended for export. This key step was initiated following the signing of a major supply contract with a leading German client in the European market.
Thanks to this acquisition, the Savanna Distillery was able to energize and modernize its rum technology, which favored increased diversification and exceptional quality of its products from that period onward. Today, Savanna is recognized worldwide and exports the vast majority of its rums to demanding professionals. The distillery uses a traditional method of discontinuous fermentation, also called the "mother vat" process, which relies on 8 fermenters of 100 m3<\/sup> each, accompanied by their respective satellites. This process guarantees a rum of superior quality, rich in aromas and remarkable finesse.
This Savanna 5-year-old rum is a meticulous blend of ten French oak barrels, carefully selected from the Allier and Limousin regions, renowned for their precious wood offering ideal maturation. This aging imparts complex, balanced notes and a beautiful roundness on the palate, making this product a must-have for high-end spirit enthusiasts.
