OCTOMORE - 10.3 - 61.3% ABV
The Bruichladdich Distillery is located on the iconic island of Islay in Scotland, world-renowned for its exceptional Single Malt whiskies. This artisanal distillery passionately produces under three distinct brands: Bruichladdich for unpeated malts, Port Charlotte for intensely peated expressions, and the famous Octomore series, known for having the highest peat levels ever achieved in a Single Malt. Besides its exceptional whiskies, Bruichladdich also crafts the famous The Botanist Gin, a botanical gin appreciated by connoisseurs. Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, the distillery has a rich and eventful history: led by William Harvey until the fire of 1934 and his death in 1936, it went through several ownership changes before closing in 1994. In 2000, a group of investors led by Mark Reynier, a whisky expert and founder of Murray McDavid, revitalized Bruichladdich, dismantling and then rebuilding the distillery while preserving its precious Victorian equipment. Today, Bruichladdich operates without computer automation, favoring traditional methods and working by gravity, a guarantee of authentic craftsmanship. Since 2012, the distillery has belonged to the prestigious Rémy Cointreau group. The exceptional quality of its whiskies notably lies in the strict selection of Scottish barley used, a key factor in its production and high-end brand image.
The Bruichladdich range appeals with its unpeated and elegant whiskies. For lovers of more powerful and smoky flavors, Port Charlotte offers expressions rich in peat. But it is the Octomore series, released in limited editions, that pushes boundaries with Single Malts featuring some of the most extreme peat levels in the world, appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors seeking a unique tasting experience.
The Octomore 10.3 is a masterpiece distilled in 2013 from Scottish Concerto barley harvested in 2012. It was carefully aged for 6 years in a rigorous selection of first-fill American barrels from major houses such as Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, and Jack Daniels, bringing complexity and aromatic depth. This exclusive limited edition was produced in only 24,000 bottles, making each bottle a treasure to savor and collect.
