SAVANNA - 15 years - Grand Aroma - Single Cask Barrel Proof No. 251 - 66.5%
The Savanna Distillery is located on the island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir renowned for the quality of its agricultural rums. Founded between 1948 and 1950 by Emile Hugot, this historic distillery, situated in Saint-Paul, was initially attached to the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery made a strategic acquisition of a distillation workshop specialized in the production of light rum intended for export. This key step, motivated by an important supply contract with a leading German market player, allowed the distillery to significantly increase its capacities and enrich its rum-making technology. Since then, it has diversified its ranges by combining tradition and innovation, thus guaranteeing superior quality for its rums mostly exported to demanding professionals.
The Savanna Distillery operates with a discontinuous fermentation, called "mother vat", which includes 8 fermenters of 100 m3<\/sup> each, accompanied by their satellite equipment. This traditional process contributes to the production of rums of great finesse and aromatic richness, highly prized by connoisseurs.
This 15-year-old Savanna vintage is an integral part of the prestigious Wild Island Edition range, a collection dedicated to the authenticity and intense nature of the island of Réunion. This unique Volcano edition was aged in ex-Cognac casks, revealing a complex and powerful aromatic profile. Derived exclusively from cask #251, this exclusive rum stands out by its "Barrel Proof" bottling, meaning bottled without dilution, at its natural strength of 66.5%. In total, only 420 bottles were produced, making this bottle a sought-after rarity.
