The renowned Caroni Distillery was founded in 1918 in the state of Trinidad & Tobago (The Trinity), an exceptional terroir known for its outstanding rums. This unique state-owned distillery had its own sugar mill, ensuring a constant supply of noble raw materials, with sugarcane grown locally under optimal conditions. Highly equipped with a rare combination of column and pot stills, this legendary distillery remained mysterious and almost secret for a long time. Very few of its rums were bottled under its own label, adding to their appeal and rarity. Caroni spirits are distinguished by an inimitable aromatic profile, blending powerful notes of hydrocarbons, soft spices, and delicate hints of wild honey. However, due to a major crisis in the sugar industry, the government decided to permanently close the distillery in 2002. This cessation of activity increased the rarity and value of these rums with such an atypical character, making each bottle today a true mythical treasure for collectors and enthusiasts.
Dayanand "Yunkoo" Balloon, who worked for 10 years at the distillery, personally selected this small exclusive batch of six casks on April 12, 2019, in collaboration with Luca Gargano and 26 passionate Caroni enthusiasts. This limited edition is unique, showcasing authentic craftsmanship and an extraordinary history.
