Founded in 1886, Rivière du Mât is one of the oldest and most prestigious distilleries on the island of Réunion still in operation. The Rivière du Mât Distillery takes its name from a captivating local legend: an exploration ship stranded in the bed of a river left, for years, its iconic mast visible to all. Strategically located in Saint-Benoît, on the east coast of the island, the distillery produces exceptional rums made from molasses sourced from the best sugarcane plantations grown on mineral-rich volcanic soil. Combined with the crystal-clear waters of the eastern rivers, this unique combination imparts to the fermentation and distillation processes unique aromas, revealing the full richness and complexity of the Réunion terroir.
