TALISKER - 10 years - 45.8% ABV
The Talisker Distillery, iconic of Scottish whisky, is located in Carbost, on the magnificent Isle of Skye in Scotland. It is the only active distillery on this wild island, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. Founded in 1831 by the MacAskill brothers, it was established at Talisker House, in the Carbost settlement on the west coast of Skye. The building was a gift from the chief of the MacLeod clan, a clan closely linked to the distillery's history. After the company's sale in 1825, Talisker became an essential part of the Distillers Company. Today, the distillery proudly belongs to the prestigious Diageo Classic Malt range.
Talisker operates five traditional stills, producing about 2 million liters of alcohol annually. The pure water used comes from crystalline springs located in the Cuillin Hills, majestic mountains overlooking the distillery, imparting unique characteristics to its whisky. Due to the poor soil quality on Skye, the barley used is grown in the fertile Muir of Ord region on the mainland, just 20 km west of Inverness.
This remarkable Talisker is aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks, contributing to its rich and complex aromatic profile, combining vanilla sweetness and spicy notes.
Peated with a moderate level of 16-22 ppm, it offers a balanced tasting experience with characteristic smoky flavors and a long, warm finish.
