HIGHLAND PARK - 30 years - 45.2% ABV
Highland Park is the northernmost Single Malt distillery in Scotland, located in Kirkwall, in the heart of the beautiful Orkney Islands. Indeed, its geographical location is such that it is closer to Norway than to London, giving its whiskies a unique identity blending Scottish tradition with Nordic influences.
Founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a fascinating character who was part butcher, part church officer by day, and smuggler by night, the Highland Park distillery has a history rich in anecdotes. Ironically, this iconic place was eventually controlled by the officer who arrested Eunson for smuggling, already marking a turbulent destiny for the brand in the 18th century.
Unique in its kind, Highland Park controls all stages of production. It grows and malts its own barley, ensuring exceptional quality and traceability, while its two wash stills (stills dedicated to the first distillation) and two spirit stills (for the second distillation) allow it to reach a remarkable annual capacity of 2.5 million liters, all while respecting traditional artisanal methods.
Proudly part of the Edrington group, Highland Park is also one of the key whiskies in the composition of the famous Famous Grouse blend.
The distillery's signature style is characterized by a unique combination of slightly peated notes, subtle soft smoke, and a slightly sweet character, creating a perfectly balanced tasting experience. Released in 2019, this Highland Park 30 years is the second oldest expression in the range, just behind a prestigious Highland Park 50 years, showcasing the craftsmanship and excellence perpetuated for more than two centuries.
