EDRADOUR - 10 years - 40% ABV
Edradour is an iconic whisky distillery from the Scottish Highlands, nestled in the charming village of Moulin, near Pitlochry. Recognized as the smallest traditional distillery still operating in Scotland, it also represents the last refuge of the small Victorian-era farm producer still in operation. This flagship distillery is famous for its unique and intriguing history, notably its historical connection with the New York mafia. Founded in 1825 under the name Glenforres Distillery by a cooperative of passionate local farmers, Edradour has preserved an ancestral know-how. In 1938, Irving Haim, an influential agent of Frank Costello, the New York mafia boss, became the main shareholder. After Haim's death in 1976, the distillery was sold to an American-Australian consortium before being integrated in 1982 into a subsidiary of the Pernod Ricard group. Since 2002, it has belonged to the prestigious group Signatory Vintage Ltd. The distillery maintains a remarkable artisanal heritage with old and authentic equipment: notably, its wort is cooled using the last Morton commercial refrigerator, operating exclusively with cold water. Here, no process is automated and control remains entirely human, thus guaranteeing an exceptional and high-quality whisky.
This Edradour whisky, aged 10 years, has been carefully matured in a harmonious combination of Oloroso sherry and Bourbon casks, giving it a perfect balance of rich flavors, between woody sweetness and intense fruity notes.
