TRES HOMBRES - Exceptional aged rum - FOURSQUARE 2005 - Porto Bayan Rum XII - 42%
Born from the passionate desire to restore an old maritime tradition and establish ethical, transparent, and sustainable trade, the Frères de la Côte acquired an ecological three-masted ship powered solely by wind. On board, they carefully transport chocolate, coffee, wine, line-caught tuna, and of course, artisanal rum. This unique sailing crossing of the Atlantic allows them to bring back exceptional products while respecting the environment. The rare and aged rums of the Frères de la Côte are rigorously selected by the captain of the Tres Hombres during his stops all around the Atlantic.
The Foursquare distillery, founded in 1996 by the Seale family, is located in the idyllic southeast of Barbados. Although one of the youngest distilleries in the Caribbean, it stands out for its advanced technological modernity. Distillation is carried out either in a double column with 40 plates or in a sumptuous double retort pot still equipped with a small column. Foursquare also innovates with its unique blends, made directly in barrels, mixing distillates from the columns and the pot still. Behind this young distillery is rum purist Richard Seale, who accepts no additives in his raw material. This meticulous know-how gives birth to rums of exceptional quality and rare authenticity.
This rum Porto Bayan Rum XII 42%, vintage 2005 from the prestigious Foursquare distillery is thus offered by Tres Hombres, and Clos des Spiritueux is particularly proud to present it to you. Distilled in 2005, it then aged 11 years on the island of Barbados before benefiting from a final 9-month finishing in ex-Porto Tawny casks during its transatlantic crossing. This process gives this rum a unique aromatic complexity and an elegant character.
"After an ocean crossing, the holds full of barrels previously loaded with Port wine, taken from the famous Portuguese city of the same name, dropped anchor in the crystal-clear waters of Carlisle Bay in Barbados, surrounded by immaculate white sandy beaches. The surprisingly fine Port wine was replaced by this refined spirit from Richard Seale, heir to a lineage of passionate distillers for several generations. The distilled sugar cane molasses, without any additives, aged in Bourbon barrels under the intense Caribbean heat, forms the base of this Bayan rum with its inimitable flavor. This exchange between Port and rum barrels revives the ancestral traditions of our sailors, offering a finish on the palate to the Port of rare elegance." This is how this exceptional rum is described on the official site of the Frères de la Côte, proud owners of the Tres Hombres.
