Coming from a distinguished Italian family renowned for the impeccable quality of its products, Luca Gargano embodies the spirit of exploration and the quest for excellence. His goal is clear: to prioritize quality distribution over profit. For each selected distillery, Habitation Velier highlights the best master blenders through their Pure Single rums, unveiling each time an original and unique project, a true world first, bearing the distinctive signature of Habitation Velier.
The Jamaican distillery Hampden, with origins dating back to 1684 under the ownership of Thomas Goddard, is today a gem of rum heritage. Since 2009, the Hussey family (Everglades Farms Ltd.) has owned it, ensuring the preservation of its ancestral methods. With nearly 5,600 hectares of carefully cultivated sugarcane, the rums of the Hampden Rhum Company rank among the most authentic in Jamaica. True to tradition, these rums are distilled in the heavy pot rum style, offering an exceptionally rich aromatic palette of esters, the aromatic compounds that define their unique character. Fermentations are conducted by indigenous yeasts in spontaneous fermentation, in a historic warehouse where period tools and vats are still used, thus guaranteeing an authentic production faithful to traditional know-how.
With this Hampden 2011 LFCH aged 7 years, Habitation Velier invites you to rediscover the subtlety and finesse of the distillery. Renowned for its intense heavy rums rich in esters, this edition highlights a lighter and more delicate facet, demonstrating the distillery's ability to craft light rums with great elegance. With an ester content between 85 and 120 g/hl, this Pure Single Rum reveals complex aromas intertwining herbal notes, fresh sugarcane, dried twigs, and exotic fruits, for a rich and refined sensory experience.
