JAMAICAN RUM - JAMAICAN STILLS - LONG POND - 11 years - 2007 - TECC - 62.5%
The Long Pond distillery, emblematic of the Jamaican rum tradition, traces its roots back to the late 18th century, when it was founded following the dowry of Simon Clarke, an exiled baronet. This historic gem has endured through the centuries, changing hands several times until 1921, when the company Sheriff & Co acquired the estate. This company merged several distilleries, giving birth in 1955 to the Trelawny Estate. In 1977, the Jamaican government took control, renaming the property The National Sugar Company of Long Pond Ltd. Under the aegis of National Rum of Jamaica, the distillery was privatized around 1993. Today, the sugar mill and distillery belong to separate entities: Everglades Farms, also owner of Hampden, took over the distillery. It was not until 2012 that Long Pond rums were marketed under their own name. Located in the heart of historic buildings, the distillery retains its five copper pot stills subtly modified over time, as well as its traditional fermentation vats, ensuring exclusive production of exceptional, rich, and authentic Jamaican rums.
This TECC 11-year-old rum from the Long Pond distillery, vintage 2007, stands out for its remarkable power and exceptional concentration of esters, reaching between 1500 and 1600 g\/hl of pure alcohol. This unique aromatic richness makes it one of the most intense and complex cuvées from Jamaica, with a broad, rich, and captivating flavor profile. A rare limited edition that Clos des Spiritueux is proud to offer for sale, ideal for enthusiasts seeking an exceptional Jamaican rum with authentic flavors fully revealing the terroir of Long Pond.
