The prestigious origins of the Jamaican distillery Hampden date back to 1684, initially founded by Thomas Goddard. Since 2009, this iconic distillery has belonged to the Hussey family (Everglades Farms Ltd.), having purchased the establishment from the Jamaican state. Today, with nearly 5600 hectares of carefully cultivated sugarcane, the rums of the Hampden Rhum Company are among the most authentic and traditional in all of Jamaica. These unique rums are still distilled according to the ancestral method of heavy pot rum, characterized by an exceptionally rich aromatic palette of natural esters – these aromatic molecules are responsible for their intense and complex flavors. Fermentations take place thanks to indigenous yeasts in spontaneous fermentation, in an exceptional historic warehouse, carefully preserving period equipment that guarantees production faithful to ancestral Jamaican traditions.
