Savanna & Swell de Spirits – Herrline n°2 – TH1 – 59.5% – Limited Edition of Rum from Reunion Island
Discover Herrline n°2 – TH1 , an exceptional vintage born from the collaboration between the Savanna distillery in Reunion Island and Swell de Spirits , an independent bottler renowned for its rare editions. This exclusive project launched in 2023 highlights one of the island's most emblematic distillates, made from a high ester rum with a strong character.
HERR (High Ester Rum) is here enhanced in a bold, rare and exuberant version, a true aromatic concentrate of tropical fruits and gourmet notes. A unique sensory invitation to the heart of Reunion Island's terroirs.
For this second edition of the Savanna Herrline series, Michael Barbaria selected cask no. 215 , in which a blend of traditional rum (column C20) and HERR 2009 (still) was aged for 8 years. The whole thing rested in ex-Cognac casks , giving it structure, complexity and elegance. Bottled at cask strength at 59.5% , this Bois Rouge molasses rum has not undergone any reduction. Only 733 bottles were produced, a tiny fraction of which is available in mainland France .
Tasting note:
At first glance, its bright copper color catches the eye. The nose reveals a remarkable intensity, mixing exotic fruits, noble wood and vanilla. The palate offers a beautiful roundness, marked by aromas of roasted cocoa , a gentle sweetness and a subtle astringency that balances the whole. The finish is long, fruity, and perfectly controlled, with an aromatic return that prolongs the experience in finesse.
